Adding a stop used to start with a dropdown. Now it starts with the place, and the app works out the rest: what kind of stay it is, which meal, how you are getting there.
Every stop on your trip is a place on the map. So the forms now open on the search box, ready to type, and stop asking questions the place already answers.
- Lodging has no type dropdown any more. Pick a hostel and it is labelled a hostel; a resort, a guest house and a campground label themselves too. An address or a dropped pin is simply a stay.
- Activities lost their 40-item list. Pick the Louvre and it knows it is a museum. For something that happens nowhere in particular, type it ("Free time", "Wander the old town") and choose to use it as the name.
- Meals are one tap, and usually none. A new meal starts on the next one your day is missing: breakfast, then lunch, then dinner. Pick a cafe and it switches to coffee.
- Rides read their two ends. An airport at each end is a flight, two stations are a train, a metro stop is the metro, a short hop is a walk, and the hotel to the airport stays a taxi. Tap another chip if we guessed wrong, and your choice sticks.
- The price is optional. Save the place now and the day shows Add price where the amount will go. Free still means free: it is something you say, never something we assume.
- Directions follow how you travel. A day with a ride in it now opens in Google Maps in parts, each in its own mode: the walk to the station on foot, the metro as transit, a taxi as a drive. A flight no longer turns the stroll around it into a road trip.
- Enter saves the form, so a stop can be search, Enter, Enter.
Nothing you already planned changes. Older stops keep the exact words they were saved with, including ones from lists that are now shorter.
