One search box for a place
Adding a stay, a meal, a ride or an activity used to start with a choice between Places, Any address and Drop a pin. Now the search box and the map are both right there: search a place or an address near your city, or tap the map, and drag the marker to the exact spot.
The old chips asked you to know, before typing, whether the thing you were after was a place, an address or a spot on the map. Places only knew a few kinds of place, so a coffee shop or a beach could fail to show up. Any address searched the whole world, so a street name might come back from another country. Drop a pin gave you a map and nothing to search.
- One search box finds a hotel, a restaurant, a station, a sight or a street address alike, and it looks near the day's city and within its country.
- The map is always under the box. A picked place lands on it with its full address shown; drag the marker to the exact door and the name stays while the point moves.
- Tap the map to pin a food stall or a trailhead Google does not list. A ride shows both its ends on one map, with a From / To switch.
